About us

Luciana Country Estate is a development on the Vaal River – some 90 kms from Johannesburg and reached via a tarred road.

It is the last development on the Free State side of the Vaal River Barrage and faces north towards the River, directly across from Loch Vaal. It is well treed and gardens are continually developed.  There are a number of homes that cater for every taste – from beginners’ first cottages to well-appointed residences.   Most persons who arrive at Luciana for the first time are surprised that such a hidden treasure exists so close to the big cities.

The Estate provides numerous services and activities for members. It allows for water use and water sports on a long stretch of the River for about 50 kilometres from the Barrage to both Vanderbijl Park and Vereeniging and even further north –east where there are beautiful and tranquil stretches of water. This water level remains constant at all times.

The Estate itself has been described as the best run complex on the Vaal River. It also provides every service that makes a weekend holiday home comfortable and stress-free.

The Estate supplies members with petrol, oil gas, wood, Sunday papers and the like and there is a small shop that stocks all basic items needed for a weekend cottage. A tractor service is available to launch and retrieve water craft during daylight hours.

The activities include a children’s play park, tennis, swimming pool, braai areas, communal hall suitable for functions and conferences, guest rooms for overflow guests at homes, snooker tables, table tennis and an ATV quad track.

The residential area is secured by a security fence whilst other security measures have contributed to a crime free community on the Vaal. We are self -sufficient with our own reticulation like a good water supply from boreholes and generators to beat shedding.

Golf is not far away and so also a shooting range and a flying club. Parys is 20 minutes away and Vanderbijl Park and Sasolburg 15 and 10 minutes, respectively – if you want to dare leave the tranquillity of Luciana. There are many restaurants and shops in these towns.
